Choosing The Perfect Location

When beginning your home search, it is important to think about where you would like to live, before choosing a home you would like to live in. Here are five factors to carefully consider when choosing your perfect location:

1. Urban or Suburban?

There are pros and cons to both, but one important factor is the cost of living in each location. Look at your options to see what your budget will get you in the city, versus what it will get you in the suburbs, and decide if the tradeoff worth it to you.

2. The Neighborhood

While conducting online research is a great place to start, nothing is better than getting out and exploring neighborhoods first-hand. Find weekend markets and local shops where you can meet and connect with people. Drive through the neighborhood at different times of day to see what the traffic and other activities are like.

3. Commute Time

Your commute time to and from a neighborhood could be a deciding factor in choosing the location of your home. Take the time to research the proximity to work and schools.

4. Family & Friends

Finding the right locations means considering the distance to family and friends, and how long it will take you to get to them. If a new location will mean you are further away from the people closest to you, you’ll want to consider if it is still the right option for you.

5. Crime Rates

One of the reasons your house feels like home is because you feel safe there. Research the crime rates to get a good understanding of what happens in the neighborhood you are considering moving to can easily be done by conducting research on the crime rates in that area, compared to the other areas you are considering.
